Dr. Friedenthal was trained in liposuction in France by Dr. Yves-Gerard Illouz, the inventor of the procedure, and he has extensive experience with liposuction. Dr. Friedenthal is a recognized speaker on the subject in medical meetings and has taught Vaser liposuction in the Middle East.
Vaser liposuction uses the application of ultrasonic energy to break up the fatty before aspiration. It is frequently useful to allow aspiration of fatty tissue from firm areas such as the back or in men in which the fatty tissue can be quite dense. Liposuction can be performed using either a local anesthetic with sedation or using a general anesthetic, depending on the patient’s desires and the amount of tissue to be removed.
